These lacquered bowls are delicate and light, measuring about 12.4cm wide and 9cm tall (10cm with lids on). They feature black and gold lacquer work, with small birds in flight and swirls of wind. It may be possible to clean them up so that the detailed work features more brightly. Multi-stage lacquer work like this is very involved.
One bowl was reglued prior to arriving at Baduk Club, so although it is cracked it is stable - we have not refurbished this set at all since it is most likely an antique. We could apply a dark color to the raw wood areas to improve the look, but feel that such work should be left to antique professionals.
The stones are size 30 glass (8mm). There are 181 black and 180 white, and they fit the bowls snugly.
