Every time we unbox old vintage sets, there are a fair number of damaged stones. These stones are set aside, and now we're happy to make them available to you.
Most damage is in the form of small chips at the edge of a clamshell piece, so the majority of them are still usable, especially if you have an alternate application in mind:
- Outdoor Go sets
- Movie props
- Arts and crafts
- Jewelry
- Gravesite tokens
- Vase marbles
- Clamshell-cleaning experiments
- Anything you can think of
These are standard pieces about 22mm wide, though they vary in size from 4mm to 11mm thick. The white stones are a mix of Japanese and Mexican clamshell, and may have some glass pieces. The black are slate and/or glass pieces. They are sold in 1.5 pound sets (0.68kg, about 180 pieces).
A sizing set is also available, for players who want to feel the difference between stones of different thickness. These will be 10 stones from size 15 (4mm) to size 36 (10mm). These stones will be taken from our bulk chipped stones - if you have a preference of color (black or white) please let us know.
Shipping is from Colorado, USA. Because these pieces are already damaged, returns are not accepted.

If you are looking for spare stones that aren't chipped, availability varies and generally costs $1 per piece of Clamshell or Slate up to size 30 (cost increases above 8mm depending on thickness and grade).
