This Japanese go board was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing. It has the wavy grain, high density, and sweet scent that we expect from Kaya. It is a single piece, 5cm thick, and weighs 10.8lbs. With legs on it stands 17.5cm tall and weighs 12.9lbs. The board is a standard size, 44cm long and 41.5cm wide. The color is a warm caramel orange, providing the perfect contrast for black and white stones.
The original legs are included, so you can use this as a floor board or remove them and use it as a table board. The legs have been marked so that you can fit them precisely into position with matching marks on the underside of the board.
This board was originally part of a floor board that was repurposed as 4 table boards. The wood was planned on all sides, divided with a band saw, and then sanded. Next, a laser was used to engrave a new 19x19 grid on the top. This grid is based on standard Japanese dimensions, with cells 22mm wide and 23.7mm tall. Finally, the board was treated with mineral oil, dried, then treated with Monkey Butter and buffed clean.
