This Japanese go board was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing. The high weight (4.3kg) and endgrain point to Agathis, a dense wood from southeast Asia.
This is a single-piece board cut in a quartersawn style. This cutting style is preferred for dimensional stability and because it provides straight lines on all the surfaces.
The board is used, so there may be incidental marks on the top. The sides and bottom were sanded, and the entire board was buffed with Monkey Butter.
The board will be shipped with 4 felt feet so that you have the option to use them. To prepare the surface, you will need to strip away the beeswax coating so that the adhesive can grip the wood (a paper towel with isopropyl alcohol will do fine).
