This is an outstanding set of go bowls. They are the largest and heaviest that we have ever carried. They can comfortably store go stones up to size 40 (~11mm). They can probably even hold stones up to size 50, but we do not have a set that large to check.
The wood is Quince, which closely resembles Rosewood and Ebony in its density and grain patterns. It is a very heavy wood with great longevity.
Quince begins as a Red wood, and will gradually change color through Orange on its way to Brown as it ages.
The set was scrubbed of its original finish and treated with Monkey Butter. It is in excellent condition, and carries a unique double navel on the underside of each bowl.
