Help beginners fall in love with the game with a high-quality 9x9 board!
A 9x9 board is a must-have for clubs, so that you can introduce beginners to the game. We provide 3 different wood types with varying colors. Solomon sourced the wood in Denver (February 2026); it was then laser etched, sanded, and finished with Monkey Butter (mineral oil and beeswax).
Each board is 8.5" tall, 8" wide, and 0.8" thick (about 2cm). The grid is based on standard Japanese dimensions, with cells 22mm x 23.7mm. A 9x9 grid is provided on the top, with an additional 7x7 grid on the bottom. The lines are laser etched deeply enough that the board can be refinished - if the board becomes scratched over time, then the surface can be re-sanded without losing the grid.
The board you receive may vary from those in the photos. Please use the drop-down menu to select a wood type and quality.
