This Kaya table board came to BadukClub from a pawn shop in Niigata, Japan.
The go board is a lovely amber color typical of Kaya. The board weighs over 7kg, so it is very dense. Beautiful red streaks of resin are visible on the underside and in the end grain.
This is a 5-piece hagi board, where the wood has been joined together - this type of construction is quite common for a table board, to avoid the potential for warping that comes from making a thin board of a single piece.
There are some stray marks. This is a vintage item, so other small defects may exist.
In case you want to use it as a floor board, a folding device is included that elevates the board to a playable height with rubber feet for stability.
