This thick go board came to BadukClub from the private home of an art dealer in Shimane, Japan.
The board is 18cm thick and stands 30cm tall on legs. It has an even yellow color typical of Shinkaya (Alaskan Spruce). and it is a quarter-sawn board, an Oi-masa cut. This cutting style is highly rated, as it has the maximum dimensional stability (it will not warp over time), and shows straight lines on almost all of the surfaces. There are many stray marks, and there may be other small imperfections. The board would benefit from a thorough scrubbing.
