This beautiful go set came to BadukClub from a second-hand shop in Ehime, Japan.
The board is 14.5cm thick and weighs 13.5kg. This is on the heavier side for a Shinkaya (Alaskan Spruce) board. It is a rift-sawn board, an Oi-masa cut. This cutting style is highly rated, as it has very high dimensional stability and straight lines on all almost all of the board's surfaces.
The board is in very good condition, and the bowls and stones should be considered a bonus.
The go bowls look like Cherry or Quince. They are dark red in color and have a weighty heft. The go stones are a full set. They look mostly slate & shell, but some extra glass stones have found their way in as spares, so there are 184 black and 213 white. They were not measured but appear to be 9mm thick and in need of a cleaning.
Because this set is still in Japan, it has not been refurbished in our Colorado workshop, so we can offer it at a discount. There may be small imperfections not specified here.
