This board came to Baduk club from a second-hand shop in Hokkaido.
The board is a warm brown/orange color, typical of Katsura. But it is not the same color throughout, so it is probably from a small tree. The box says 'Shin-Katsura' so it may be a similar substitute as Katsura has become more rare. The grid is traditional raised lacquer, which shines in the glare of the light.
The construction is very old-fashioned but sturdy, with mortice and tenon joints instead of hinges. This is nice because there won't be hinges to scratch a table, and the reverse side is available as a 13x13. It comes with its original box, and is in excellent condition.
It comes with two sets of glass stones in plastic bowls. Leaving these out will save $20 on shipping costs so please let us know if you'd like to do that for a discount.
