This antique set was refurbished in our Colorado workshop.
The pieces are an unusual disc-shape which is no longer produced. While most go stones are made double-convex or single-convex, these are not convex at all. They sit flat on the board, and have unique imperfections. There is a full set of 181 black and 180 white, and they were cleaned according to our Care Instructions.
The white pieces are Japanese clamshell. They were soaked in oxygenated water, rinsed, then rinsed again with distilled water. Broken or missing pieces were replaced.
The black stones are Japanese slate. They were washed with soapy water and rinsed with distilled water. They have not been oiled yet, we leave this option to you.
The bowls are chestnut, size M, and they fit the stones snugly. They were scrubbed clean and treated with Monkey Butter.
